Come join up to 17 other girl scouts to live the Hollywood Dream for a week. After a private studio tour and some views of the Hollywood sign, we’ll get down to business. Approximately 2.2 million people visit Maui each year, but very few ever give back to the island or to its people and culture. We will spend a week volunteering our time and learning about the island’s idea of “Laulima” and “Kuleana”. These terms basically translate into “Many Hands” and “Responsibility”. This is the idea that all people are responsible for the earth and its inhabitants. Most days will be spent learning about some facet of the island’s local history, flora and fauna, geology, marine wildlife, and then allowing that knowledge to help us understand the need for service to the island and to the disappearing indigenous species on it...
